At Earthworks, patio and landscape designs begin with function – how do you plan to use your yard? Although we take an interest in what is is hot this year in landscaping, we are less concerned with current trends, than we are with your current and future needs.
For example, one of the hottest trends in landscaping today is outdoor kitchens. Lawn and garden magazines are filled with articles about the movement towards outdoor cooking. That's fantastic, for people who love to cook outdoors. But if what you really need is is just a quiet spot in the sun to relax and enjoy a book, let's leave the built-in BBQ and wood fired pizza oven to someone who will use it on a regular basis.
When we first meet with you to discuss a potential landscape design, we like to start by talking about how you hope to actually use your space and what problems with your current yard we might tackle.
If you're a young couple contemplating starting a family, your needs will be very different from a family with teens who are poised to leave the house in the next few years. And empty nesters with possible future mobility issues will have a different set of priorities.
Maybe you have a drainage problem and need stop water from collecting along the back of your house after every rainfall. Or maybe the grass doesn't grow well in the back yard and you are tired of the dog tracking mud into your kitchen.
Maybe you just see an empty canvas of a backyard, but aren't sure what it needs!
Regardless, our approach here at Earthworks is to favour your actual needs over anything else, to build something you'll actually love using, year after year.

Dwayne came to our home about a month ago, saw what we wanted done, gave us a quote and indicated it would be around 6 weeks before they could get to it. In about 5 weeks he called to indicate thatRead more … they would begin the next day at 8. They were on time, did a great job, in extreme heat & humidity and the end cost was as quoted. Needless to say I enjoy working with people who are on time, honest and do professional work - Earthworks Landscaping covers off all of these important points for me.

We heard about this company and the good work they do from a family member. We subsequently hired them to do a large interlocking brick patio and raised stone planter at the rear of our house. TheRead more … patio was large, with an intricate design. I was extremely impressed with their work, right from protecting our lawn from damage to the excellent work they did on the patio and planter. The crew was very pleasant and worked hard in very hot weather. We have already had many compliments on our new patio and planter and we will be hiring them to do a stone planter in our front yard next year. Very professional and service oriented, which is a nice trait in this day and age!
