Get a Landscaping Estimate without a Phone Call or Meeting

Nobody wants another meeting on their schedule. No one wants to be subtly pressured by a salesperson to proceed with the next step in a project. But everyone wants to know how much their project is going to cost.
Over the 28 years we’ve been in the landscaping business, one thing we’ve worked on a lot is our ability to give preliminary estimates without the need for you to schedule a time with us or even have a phone call. We can do fairly accurate preliminary estimates by email.
This involves very little effort on your part. Nothing to schedule. No pressure from a salesperson. You simply get a pretty good idea of the cost you’re looking at for your project. After that, you can do what you want with that information.
How accurate are the preliminary estimates?
85% of the time, the final hard quote ends up being very similar to the preliminary estimate.
The way it works is this:
- Once you receive the preliminary estimate you can optionally request a hard quote.
- To give you a hard quote, we meet with you, see your yard and go over the project in more detail. You can then optionally proceed with the project.
- Unless you request changes to the project after we’ve broken ground, the final invoice will be exactly the same as the hard quote.
Therefore, 85% of the time the preliminary estimate is very similar to the final invoice. This proves the value of the preliminary estimate process!
It is a very painless and low-pressure way for you to get quite a clear idea of the cost of a potential patio, walkway or complete landscaping project.
Step 1: Email us or fill out our contact form
First, you contact us either by email or with our online form.
Feel free to include as much or as little detail as you want about what you are looking for.
Here is some information you might want to include when you contact us:
Brief description of the project
Example: "I'm interested in a patio for my backyard. I'm just looking for a nice place to put our BBQ and outdoor table and chairs."
Dimensions of what you want built
Example: "I'm thinking it'll be something like 12' by 10' but I'd be happy to have your input in exactly what we should do".
Photos of your yard as it is now
If you are emailing, you can include pictures of your yard.
Access width for machines
If you think it might be difficult to get a skid steer loader in (a Bobcat), if you want, you can measure the width of the access point.
Example: "We do have a fence with an opening of about 4' and it's pretty narrow between the houses for access. I measured that at 6 feet"
Your street address
If you are willing to include your address, it is extremely helpful for us to look at Google Maps satellite and streetview images to see the layout of your yard, but if privacy is a concern for you so early in the process, we understand.
Your ideal timeline
If you are hoping for a specific start or completion date, let us know.
Obviously the more detail you include initially the fewer follow-up questions we will have in our response, but do not worry too much about what to include and what to exclude: We will ask follow-up questions in our response, if needed.
Step 2: We respond with any questions we have
The company owner, Dwayne Regehr, will respond by email and gather a bit more basic information about the project.
This generally takes very little effort or time.
Step 3: We send you the preliminary estimate by email
At this point you will have a good idea of how much your project would cost.
There’s no pressure to do anything further. If you are interested in proceeding with figuring out the specifics so that you can get a hard quote, we will then:
- Schedule a time to come have a look at your yard
- Talk with you to make sure that we come up with a plan that really is going to suit your purposes
- Talk about the exact layout, design and materials for your outdoor space
After this we will give you a hard quote, which will tell you exactly how much we would bill once the landscaping work is done. You can then decide whether to hire us to do the landscaping or not.
Like we said earlier, 85% of the time, the preliminary estimates tend to be very similar to the hard quote and the hard quote is identical to the amount eventually invoiced. Therefore, the preliminary estimate gives you a very good idea of the final cost.
For most people, the preliminary estimate is enough to go on to make a decision about whether the project makes sense for them or not.
Estimates and quotes can be one of the most challenging parts of being in the landscaping business. Site conditions are different for every job, and it takes years to learn to read a yard and anticipate the challenges associated with each new location. The success of any project is dependent on our ability to accurately assess all costs before starting the work.
After 28 years of landscaping in Winnipeg, there is very little that we haven't encountered, and we would be happy to put our expertise to work for you.
