Our Process

1. Preliminary estimate

First, you contact us. Feel free to include as much detail as you want about what you are looking for.

The company owner, Dwayne Regehr, will gather basic information about the project via email. If you can, you will do some quick measuring of dimensions for us.

We will email you a preliminary estimate so you can get a rough idea of how much the project will cost. About 85% of the time the final hard quote is very similar to this preliminary estimate.

2. In-person meeting

If the project fits your budget and you feel that you would trust the Earthworks crew to work on your yard, it is then time to meet in person. Dwayne will come to your yard to see the actual space.

In this meeting we will discuss your goals for the project in more detail. If needed, Dwayne can offer some feedback and make suggestions of ways to enhance the project or make it more economical.

3. Detailed design

If needed, we'll do a detailed design using 3D software. We can go through two or three drafts, refining the design into something that fits your budget and lifestyle.

4. Hard quote

Once we know exactly what we are building, we give you a written quote you can rely on.

Even at this stage, there's no pressure to go ahead with the project. But if you are happy with the quote and the plan, then you give us a 25% deposit and we schedule the job.

Unless you want to make changes part way through the project, this quote is exactly what we will bill.

5. Schedule the job

At the time of booking, we will give you an estimated date when we can begin work. We tend to have a 6- to 8-week waiting list throughout the summer. Despite unpredictable weather and other uncertainties, we rarely have major delays. While waiting for your work to start, we will check in periodically to let you know how our schedule is progressing.

6. Construction

At the agreed upon time, our crew shows up and starts work. The company owner will be there, working with the crew!

We work efficiently, with very high construction standards. We will be at your place anywhere from one day to two weeks, depending on the project.

Before the work starts, we will be able to tell you almost exactly how many days it will take us.

7. Final walk-through

We do a final walk-through with you to make sure you are happy with everything.

8. We bill what we quoted

As stated before, unless you want to make changes to the landscape design along the way, we bill exactly what we quoted.

After hundreds of projects over 27 years, we know how much things cost and how long things take us.
